Sony’s DualShock and DualSense controllers have never had an “upgrade,” unlike the Xbox controllers that have had the Xbox Elite line of controllers for years. But, it appears that this will all change soon.
It’s interesting that Sony is only just showing interest in a “pro” controller.

According to Tom Henderson, Sony will release a PS5 “Pro” controller, claiming that it is a “genuine professional” controller that could get an official reveal at the end of June. In the same report, Henderson adds that Sony might announce the release date for God of War: Ragnarok at the said event, although neither is confirmed at the moment.
Going back to the “Pro” controller for the PS5, Henderson explains that he’s seen images of the prototype for the controller, codenamed “Hunt.” The well-known industry insider says that the unannounced gaming controller will have removable analog sticks, trigger stops, and back buttons. On top of this, the new and presumably, more expensive, PS5 controller, will come with new removable grips for better support.
Tom Henderson isn’t the only reliable source saying that Sony still has another event planned for later this month.
As we’ve already mentioned, Sony has never released a “Pro” controller for older consoles.
Instead, the console manufacturer prefers to outsource these kinds of improvements to licensed third-party companies. It’s not known what made Sony change its mind many years later, but its big push into PC gaming could have something to do with it. As revealed in an earlier report, Sony expects to make $300 million off of PC port sales of its exclusives by March 2023.
